l'atlas

L'Atlas invents a language of signs as much as words. Combining influences from Ancient Greek, Arabic calligraphy and modern tag, L'Atlas imagines what universal urban communication could become. And by posting these maze-like symbols across the city, he creates intriguing landmarks to challenge our directions. L'Atlas pushes his exploration further when he captures prints from urban objects - such as man hole covers - in an attempt to create the ultimate urban language: using the words of the city itself.

Jules Dedet aka L'Atlas (b. 1978) started doing graffiti in the 90's in Paris. He is represented by galleries in Paris, Marrakech, Berlin, New York and by >french art studio in London since 2010. L'Atlas has participated to street art group shows in museums including Centre Beaubourg, Grand Palais and Fondation Cartier in Paris.
