Following her stint of sleeping rough for the BBC programme Famous, Rich and Homeless, Julia Bradbury has become a staunch supporter of the Big Issue and the plight of homelessness. Through this work she came across Lee Jeffries : a photographer who captures intimate portraits of the homeless and whose work has exploded on social media and recently has seen him work with Terrence Malick as a contributor to his newly released move, Voyage of Time
In an effort to create intimate portraits, Jeffries connects with each person on an individual basis first saying “I need to see some kind of emotion in my subjects. I specifically look at people’s eyes - when I see it, I recognise it and feel it. Everyone walks by like the homeless are invisible. I’m stepping through the fear in the hope that people will realise these people are just like you and me".
The artist has teamed up with Julia Bradbury, The Big Issue and M&C Saatchi to exhibit Lost Angels, a collection of his work launching on 7th December at M&CSaatchi. Julia Bradbury will be hosting a Q&A at the event, during which his work will be available to buy with 10% of sales going directly to The Big Issue.
